Nirbhaya Scooter with Women Safety Features to be launched into the Market by Diwali 2014

Nirbhaya electronic scooter is coming soon into the market. The scooter features GPRS enable tracking system and this is the highlight of this scooter. Morello Yamaski is the maker of this scooter with safety system. CEO of the company informed that the scooter can be connected through mobile phone through an app. The vehicle will be coming into the market in another two months.

Ahmadabad: Pressing a button will enable the family members of the scooter rider to know the location of the vehicle. This information will be transmitted for every two to three minutes. The Nirbhaya scooter will come with a price tag of Rs. 35,000. The company will be offering this for ten percent discount for the women customers. Maximum speed of the vehicle is 25 kilometers and the rider will not need driving license to drive this vehicle.

CEO of Yamaski informed that Nirbhya, the low speed electric scooter will be launched into the market in another two months. The company is presently selling three low speed vehicles. Very soon, it will be launching high speed scooters.

Morello Yamaski is a joint venture of Arya Group based at Mumbai and Yamasaki motors of Japan. Only ten percent of the components of Nirbhaya scooter are manufactured in India. Remaining are brought from Japan. The company however is planning to set up a plant at Ahmadabad. They are investing around Rs. 155 crore in the plan that whose manufacturing capacity is going to be 16,000 units per year. The unit is likely to start manufacturing by 2015-16. The company already processes near Ahmadabad.

Nirbhaya scooter is named after the gang rape victim. The company is expecting that there will be great demand for the scooter from women buyers as it comes with women safety features. Nicknamed Nirbhaya it will be made available in the market by this Diwali. It will be first launched in Ahmadabad market. It is possible to send SMS to six different mobiles through the SMS button in case of emergencies.

The prototype of the vehicle is displayed at a conference on Sustainable Mobility with Electric vehicles. After launching it in Ahmadabad, it will be made available in New Delhi and other markets.
