Medak By-Poll: First Test For New TRS Government

The newly formed TRS government is going for its first test in the form of by-polls to Medak lok sabha MP seat.

Sangareddy: The TRS leadership is keeping its fingers crossed in view of the first test that the party is going to face after forming the government in new formed Telangana State.

The Telangana Rashtra Samitha and the T-CM K Chandra Sekhar Rao are putting their best efforts to win the first acid test for the new government. The test is coming before the party in the form of the by-polls to the Medak Lok Sabha MP seat. The vacancy came with KCR resigning the MP seat after retaining the Gajwel assembly seat to become the first CM of the new state.

The voters are giving unexpected shock to the new governments. The new NDA government at centre received jolt when the alliance won just 8 out of 18 MLA seats in the by-polls that were conducted recently. The voters gave a caution to the new government to plunge into action.

The new TRS government is also facing solid test in the ensuing Medak LS bye polls. The party fielded transport business owner Kotah Prabhakar Reddy. He will be facing congress candidate Sunitha Laxma Reddy and also BJP candidate Jagga Reddy.

Sunitha Laxma Reddy is one of the most sincere congress leaders, prominent in the region and she is also one of the least controversial leaders. She has full support from the people of the region. The congress is confident of its win in this seat in view of the anger of the voters with the various decisions of the new government.

BJP-TDP alliance candidate Jagga Reddy has been strong player in the region. Previously strong leader from the congress party, he switched loyalty just on the day of nominations. He left congress to join BJP. He is also believed to be a close friend of Pawan Kalyan who did large scale campaign for the TDP-BJP alliance in the state in the 2014 general elections. He is also considered as instrumental for bringing the TDP to power in the state.

The TRS is also facing some resistance from the various corners that acted strongly in its favour during the agitation movement to achieve the state. The students are not happy with KCR’s decision regarding regularization of contract employees in various government departments. This decision of KCR is viewed by the students unions (majorly from Osmania University) as a threat to their employment opportunities.

Some of the employees’ unions are also not in favour of TRS’ decision to reject this seat to NGO leader Devi Prasad. Though the party and KCR clarified that the services of Devi Prasad will be utilized in the form of MLC, the employees are still not totally agreeable with TRS moves.

The Medak LS is going for polls on 13th September 2014.
