Bollywood Becoming More Accommodative

More and more on screen and behind the screen personalities (from other regional languages) are also making their place in Bollywood.

Mumbai: Bollywood is one of the largest film industries accommodating lots and lots of artistes.   The on screen and behind the screen personalities from other regional languages are also finding place in this industry.

In view of the variety that the new talent is able to exhibit, Bollywood is extending warm welcome for the new entrants.   This trend can be seen from the early stage itself.

1980’s seen south glamour queens Jayaprada & Sridevi moving over to Bollywood.  They were able to prove and establish themselves.  They had numerous commercial hits in Bollywood as well. Following the same path, many south actresses tried to find their way to Mumbai.  Most of them could find success and some of them could not make it.

The recent entrants to Bollywood includes many more south personalities like Meena (with her remake Anari with Venkatesh), Hareesh (remake of Prema Qaidi with Karishma Kapoor) etc.  Music master A R Rehman (from Chennai) found himself an enviable position in Bollywood and he could find way to Oscar through the ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.

Present generation female leads like Kajal, Deeksha Seth, Tamanna etc., are still at the entry level in the Bollywood.  They completed 2 to 3 movies and are yet to establish themselves.

Many of the super hit movies from south (Telugu & Tamil) are finding their way in Bollywood through remakes.  Surya’s ‘Simham’ got remade to Hindi through Ajay Devgn’s Singham whereas Surya’s sequel of Simham got remade as ‘Singham Returns’ with same Ajay Devgn.

Music directors from south also proved themselves successful in Bolllywood.  MM Keeravani became famous for his Hindi remake (Nagarjuna starrer ‘TheCriminal’).  Ilayaraja and his son Yuvan Shankar Raja also became popular in Hindi movies.

South singer SP Balasubramanyam established himself as successful playback for many Hindi movies for blockbusters like Maine Pyar Kiya (Samlan Khan, Bhagyasree starrer), Saajan etc.

Successful director Puri Jagannath (Pokiri, Cameraman Gangato Ramabu famous) has already ventured into Bollywood.  His debutant venture was with none other than the Big B Amitabh Bachhan for the movie ‘Buddha Hoga Tera Baap’.  Now the recent reports indicate that Puri is planning to stabilize his position in Bollywood with remakes of his super hit movies Amma Nanna O Tamil Ammayi, Iddrammayilato etc.  The plus point that this director has (with his films)is that the star cast of many of his successful movies is famous in Bollywood as well and this can be a easy way for his stabilizing plans in Bollywood.
