T20 World Cup 2014 Qualifying Matches Schedule: LED Bails in T20 World Cup

LED bails are going to be used in T20 world cup for the first time. ICC decided to use Light Emitting Diode bails for the first time in T20 tourney. These will be helpful for the third empires while taking decision about run-outs and stumpings. Weight of these bails is more than the normal bails.

Dhaka: T20 world cup is going to begin today in Bangladesh. The first match is a qualifying match between the host country Bangladesh and Afghanistan. Though Bangladesh is a member in International Cricket Council, the team has to play qualifying match matches in T20 world cup. Bangladesh is favourite in Group A. but at the same time Afghanistan cannot be underestimated.

This is the third T20 tournament for Afghanistan. The team also participated in 2010 and 2012 world cup but did not cross the first round. Other teams that will play the qualifying matches are Nepal, Hong Kong and UAE.

Hong Kong is playing its first T20 World cup and there are no expectations on this team. It was in the sixth place in the qualifying tourney. There are senior and junior players in the team. Most of them are all-rounders. There are lakhs of cricket fans in Nepal. This is the first biggest tourney in which the country is participating. There are no expectations on this team but good performance can be expected from few players.

Zimbabwe is in group B and its chance to qualify for the main groups are very less. Zimbabwe played 28 T20 matches till now and lost 23 matches. in T20 world cup history, it played six matches and lost five.

Ireland has experience of participating in three T20 world cups. There are many players who could perform well and the players of the team participate in county matches frequently. Netherlands played in 20009 T20 world cup and defeated the host team England. The team may give tough competition for its opponents in the group. UAE is playing its first T20 world cup. Though it plays occasionally in international cricket, there are no high expectations from this team.

Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Hong Kong and Nepal are in Group A. Zimbabwe, Ireland, Netherlands and UAE are in Group B. Today’s matches in T20 world cup are Bangladesh Vs Afghanistan from 3.00 pm IST and Nepal Vs Hong Kong from 7.00 pm. The matches will be live telecasted in Star Sports.
