General Elections 2014: Top Leaders of Congress, BJP and their Constituencies for Coming Elections

Sonia Gandhi is contesting from Raebareli and Rahul is contesting from Amethi for the 16th Lok Sabha. Narendra Modi is contesting from Varanasi and Rajnath will contest from Lucknow constituency.

New Delhi: Two main political parties Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party released their candidates’ lists for the coming Lok Sabha elections. Given below are few important leaders and the constituencies from which they will be contesting.

Narendra Modi

Sonia Gandhi: AICC president Sonia Gandhi is contesting from Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh. Sonia Gandhi is representing Raebareli constituency in Lok Sabha since 2004. This time also she chose the same seat. Congress won this seat since 1951 except for three times. Indira Gandhi also won from this constituency for three times.

Rahul Gandhi: Rahul Gandhi is contesting from Amethi in Uttar Pradesh. He won in 2004 and 2009 election from here. In 1999 Sonia Gandhi won from Amethi. Congress lost the elections from this seat only twice since 1967.

Kamalnath: Kamalnath is contesting from Chhindwara in Madhya Pradesh. He is sent to Lok Sabha from this constituency since 1998.

Nandan Neelekani: South Bangalore is chosen as the constituency for Nandan Neelekani who joined Congress recently. He is the creator of Aadhra project. However, BJP has strong hold here. Ananta Kumar is the BJP candidate here who won from here for five times.

Sushil Kumar Shinde: Shinde is contesting from Sholapur constituency in Maharashtra for 16th Lok Sabha. He won from here in 2009. In 1998 and 1999 also, he was selected to Lok Sabha from this constituency.

Mohammed Kaif: This ex cricketer is contesting on behalf of Congress from Phulpur constituency in Uttar Pradesh. SP won this seat in 1996 and in 2009 won in BSP. Jawaharlal Nehru won from this constituency for three times. But since 1989, Congress was defeated here.

Narendra Modi: Narendra Modi is contesting from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. Sitting MP here was Murali Manohar Joshi. Joshi is now contesting from Kanpur seat. BJP is winning this seat since 1991.

Rajnath Singh: BJP president Rajnath Singh is contesting from Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh. Atal Bihari Vajpayee won from this constituency from 1991 to 2004.

Sushma Swaraj: Lok Sabha opposition leader Sushma Swaraj is contesting from Vidisha constituency in Madhya Pradesh. She is the sitting MP here. BJP is winning this seat since 1989.

Arun Jaitley: BJP senior leader Arun Jaitley is contesting in direct elections for the first time. He will be contesting from Amritsar in Punjab. In 2004, Navjoth Singh Sidhu won the seat. He is not contesting the polls this time.

Satrughan Sinha: Sinha is contesting from Patna Sahib Constituency in Bihar. He won from here in 2009 also.

Harshavardhan: Delhi BJP president Harshavardhan is allotted the Chandni Chowk constituency. Congress’s Kapil Sibal won this seat in 2004 and in 2009.
