Absence Of Top Leadership In Seemandhra – Loss Or Challenge To Congress?

Post split of AP and formation of Telangana, congress leadership in Seemandhra is almost empty. The top leaders including union ministers chose to join other parties. With the leaders leaving the fray, now it is the opportunity for the 2nd & 3rd rank cadre to get elevated to the top leadership slots.

Hyderabad: On the T-Bill issue 6 sitting MP’s tried to move ‘no confidence motion’ against the ruling congress. But these 6 MP’s were suspended and somehow the T-bill got cleared in parliament. Immediately on clearance of T-bill in Parliament, there has been seen a huge change in congress leadership in this region.

Out of the 6 suspended MPs, Lagadapati Rajagopal took political sanyasam whereas other senior MP Rayapati is looking to join BJP, SPY Reddy already joined YSRCP whereas the other 3 (Sabbam Hari, Harsha Kumar & Vundavalli Arun Kumar) are part of newly formed Jai Samaikyandhra Party.

Ex-CM Kiran Kumar Reddy (after T-bill clearance resigned) and floated new political outfit by name Jai Samaikyandhra Party with some of his cabinet colleagues like Sailajanath. Some other members of his cabinet like Yerasu, TG Venkatesh have already moved to TDP. JC Divakar Reddy from Anantpur district is in TDP camp contesting for Anantpur MP and his brother JC Diwakar Reddy will be MLA from the same district.

Union minister Purandhareshwari left congress to join BJP and now she is in-charge for the party campaign committee for the AP state. Another minister Kavuri Sambasiva Rao from Eluru is already out of congress and is looking for confirmation of berth in TDP/BJP.

The only consolation for the congress in Seemandhra is leaders countable on fingers like Raghuveera Reddy (new AP PCC Chief) and Chiranjeevi (union MoS). Now these leaders (few in number) are conducting bus yatra in the state to convince the people and ask for votes & seats. They are of the opinion that congress will be once again strong enough and that the defectors are betrayers as they enjoyed the benefits (through party till the last minute). It is also noteworthy that there is no candidate coming forward to take B-form from congress party and the party has to build the leadership and it is a real challenge for the party.

It may be noted here that during T-bill issue, Chiranjeevi also submitted his resignation to congress high command and ultimately kept silent on this issue. Leaders like Chiranjeevi (whose words can’t be believed) will be able to convince the people to what extent is a big question mark for the present.
