‘Mad In India’ the Comedy Show Beginning on Star Plus on February 16

Star Plus channel decided to air another comedy program at 9 pm starting from 16th February 2014. Titled ‘Mad in India’ with Sunil Grover in the lead role, it will be a show with comedy as baseline for entertainment.

Mumbai: After trying all the other modes of entertainment comedy seems to be the major route for all the channels. Following success of Comedy Nights with Kapil (colours channel), other channels are also heading towards comedy as one of the ways to increase their share of viewership. Star Plus channel decided to air this comedy program at 9 pm starting from 16th February 2014. Titled ‘Mad in India’ with Sunil Grover in the lead role, it will be a show with comedy as baseline for entertainment, in addition to regular story-line.

It is to be noted here that Grover gained much popularity with his earlier show ‘’Comedy Nights with Kapil’ (on Colors), where Grover’s character was called Gutthi. Grover, who has appeared in several Bollywood films apart from his stint as a standup comedian, became a household name with his character Gutthi in a comedy show, and later hit headlines when he quit the show in November last year. In the new assignment Grover will be playing the role called Chutki. Chutki wears bright salwar-kameez, cheap perfume, funky, blue shades and two plaits. Her body language defines the typical small-town girl and her Punjabi accented broken English make her likeable.

Popular television anchor Manish Paul will anchor the show, while Dolly Ahluwalia (of Vicky Donor fame) is also expected to be a part of it.

‘Mad in India’ will be aired an hour earlier than ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’ telecast on Sunday at 10 pm. Comedy Nights is also aired on Saturdays at the same time slot. This shows importance the channels are attaching to comedy. Grover’s show will compete with Colors’ India’s Got Talent, Zee TV’s Dance India Dance - 4 and Sony Entertainment Television’s Boogie Woogie Kids Championship at 9 pm.

With the blockbusters like ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’, Grover’s new show is definitely much hype from the viewers.
