Team India lost 8 one day lost eight consecutive one day matches for foreign soil in recent times.  The team won the first match against Bangladesh in Asia cup by six wickets and wants to continue the winning streak.  Today the team will be playing a match with Sri Lanka.  This is the real challenge for the team.

In the first match of Asia Cup, Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by 12 runs.  India successfully chased the target of 280 runs set by Bangladesh.  Captain Kohli and Rahane are back into good form which is good news for India.  Kohli played 10 matches in Bangladesh and scored 868 runs.  Openers Sikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma are failing to score runs.  Another worry for India is failure of spin bowlers.

Bowling is the main strength of Sri Lanka team. Malinga claimed five wickets in the first match against Pakistan. If he repeats his wonderful performance in today’s match, Team India will be in more trouble.  Kumar Sangakkara, captain Mathews and other batsmen are strengthening the batting order.

Team India may play with the same team that won against Bangladesh. However it is doubtful whether Varun Aaron will be continued or will be replaced by Ishwar Pandey. Winning this match is important for India to improve the chances of reaching to the final. The match will begin at 1.30 pm IST and is telecasted live on Star Sports. Fatullah stadium is a batting pitch and it is likely that huge scores will be recorded.

This is the 144th one day match between India and Sri Lanka which is a record. No other two teams in the world faced each other in so many matches.  Pakistan-Sri Lanka played 138 matches; West indies-Australia played 135 matches.
