Rumours are strong that Google is planning to kill its nexus in view of the heavy sales pressure. Now the officials confirmed otherwise and nexus will continue in future as well.In a conference call regarding the fourth quarter earnings report of the company, Google CFO Patrick Pichette called the Nexus 5 as a winner.

New York: According to the CFO, the device has performed strongly for the company.This has put an end to the wide spread rumours regarding separation of Nexus from Google.

The Nexus program has traditionally served as a way for Google to provide reference devices with the latest version of its software to developers. Starting with 2012′s Nexus 4, Google has also used it as a way to make high-end devices more accessible, by pricing them far below competing phones. The Nexus 5, introduced last quarter, sells for only $349, compared to the $649 an iPhone or Samsung device might command.

Though Google’s main revenue is from advertisement portfolio hardware & play store sales also contribute to a greater extent. The last quarter bottom line figures of Google showed loss of $ 384 million caused rise to many doubting continuance of Google in hardware segment. But the latest announcement from CFO that “we had great momentum on the Nexus 5 and Chromecast” is an indication that Google will continue its Nexus 5 introduced only during last quarter. Though the company is tight lipped about the actual quantity of Nexus sold, many are looking with interest to know the sales figures of this wonderful product as well.
