ICC Champions Trophy 2013 2nd Semi-Final Today: India Vs Sri Lanka Semi-Final Preview
Cardiff: India won all the three league matches in Champions trophy 2013. But today’s match is very crucial for the Indian team. India will be playing semi final match with Sri Lanka today at Cardiff. In the first semi final match played yesterday, England defeated South Africa and stormed into finals.
India is definitely the title favorite. Sri Lanka team on the other side wants to take revenge on India after they were defeated in the world cup final two years ago. Three weeks ago when India went to England, the team was facing allegation of match fixing. But now the situations have changed. The team won all the three league matches and is looking confident. It was not under pressure in any match. Sri Lanka was defeated by India in the practice match before the tourney. This is the first crucial match, the two teams are playing after 2011 one day world up.
The Pitch: The second semi final of Champions trophy 2013 will be played today between India and Sri Lanka in Sophia Garden, Cardiff. New wicket is laid for the match and thus there is no information about how the pitch will be. The pitch curator commented that the team which makes 280-300 will have good chances of winning the match.
Weather: According to local weather reports, there is chance of rain. The day will be cool and moisture will also be more. This will help seamers in the beginning of the match.
India played five matches with Sri Lanka in England and won four matches. Dhawan, Rohit and Dhoni are in good form. Young pacers Bhuvaneswar and Umesh are also bowling well. Ravindra Jadeja is also showing his all round talent. There will be no changes to the Indian team.
Sri Lanka reached semi finals because of the good performance of Sangakkara and Jayawardene. Openers Dilshan and Perera are failing and this is worrying the team. Captain Mathews also did not perform well in Champions trophy till now. India reached semis as the top team in Group B, after winning the three league matches. It defeated South Africa, Pakistan and West Indies in league matches. Sri Lanka won two league matches against England and Australia. It stood in the second place in Group A.
