UPSC Released Civils Mains 2012 Final Results: Haritha V Kumar of Kerala Tops

New Delhi: UPSC released Civils Main 2012 final results on 3rd May, 2013.  Women candidates stood in the top ranks for the third year. Haritha V Kumar who appeared for Civil services examination for the fourth time stood in the first rank.  Women stood in the top ranks in general SC and ST categories.  Twelve out of 25 tops ranks are occupied by female candidates.

Civils 2012 exams were conducted on 20th May, 2012.  A total of 5,36,506 candidates applied for the exam and 2,71,422 appeared for the exam.  Out of these 13,092 candidates were chosen for the mains exam.  Interviews were conducted for 2,674 candidates in March, April months in 2013.  In the final list there are 998 candidates.  Out of these 753 were male candidates and 245 were female candidates.  Based on the ranks and preferences, these candidates will be allotted IAS, IPS, IFS and IRS services.

In the final list there are 457 general candidates, 295 OBC candidates, 169 SC candidates and 77 ST category candidates.  In the general category there are 32 physically handicapped candidates, nine in OBC category and two in SC category.

Top 25 rankers belong to 12 states/union territories. All these candidates are from different family backgrounds.  In the first top 25 candidates 12 were from Delhi, 4 from Tiruvananthapuram, 2 each from Chennai and Hyderabad, one each from Jammu, Mumbai, Jaipur, Chandigarh and Allahabad.  In the first four ranks, Kerala candidates stood in the first three ranks.  It is expected that the details of the marks of selected candidates will be made available in the UPSC website within 15 days.

Since the last two years, the ranks for Andhra Pradesh are decreasing.  Andhra Pradesh candidates used to be in the first ten ranks but this year they secured ranks between 25 and 30.  As per the information available, Andhra Pradesh candidates stood in the 16th, 44th, 55th and 89th ranks.  Every year the number of candidates who are selected for Civils interviews used to be 75 but this year only 50 candidates were selected or the interview.
