JEE Main 2014 Online Registration, Syllabus, Exam Pattern, Preparation, Notification
New Delhi: Joint Entrance Exam is conducted for admissions into various engineering institutes such as IITs, NITs and IIITs. JEE is conducted in two phases. One is JEE Main and the other is JEE Advanced. Candidates who are placed in top 1,50,000 ranks in JEE Main are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced.
For admission into IITs, JEE advanced rank is considered and along with it the candidate should have to be placed in top 20 percentile in the qualifying examination. Thee twenty percent candidates are also selected based on various categories.
For admissions into NITs the rank secured by the candidate based on the board marks and JEE Main marks will be considered. Board exams are given 40% weightage and JEE Main marks are given 60% weightage.
JEE Main is conducted in English and Hindi languages. The question paper will also be prepared in regional language on the request of the state. This is only applicable is various universities and engineering colleges in that particular state take the JEE Main score as consideration for admissions. JEE Advanced question paper will only be conducted in English and Hindi languages.
JEE Main 2014 Notification: Notification of JEE Main 2013 is not yet released. Students are requested to wait till the release of official notification to know about the application dates and exam dates.
JEE Main 2014 Registration/Application Form
Candidates need to register their names online for JEE Main. Applications are accepted only in online procedure. Once the official notification is out, the dates will be announced. JEE Main is conducted in online and offline method. Fee for both the exam varies for both types of exams.
Exam Pattern of JEE 2014 Main
JEE Main exam is conducted in both online and offline models. JEE Main consists of two papers. Paper I is related to BE/BTech course. Paper I will have multiple questions from Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Each subject will be given equal weightage. Exam duration is three hours. Paper 2 will consist three sections. This paper is related to architecture and planning courses. The three sections are Mathematics, Aptitude and Drawing test. Duration of this test is also three hours. There will be negative marks for wrong answers.
Eligibility to appear for JEE Main 2014
Candidates who passed HSC or Class 12 examination can appear for JEE Main exam. Candidates can write JEE Main for a maximum of 3 times.

JEE Main 2014 Preparation
Mathematics, Physics and chemistry subjects are given equal importance in JEE Main exam. Since mathematics is a scoring subject and the marks scored in this subject are important for securing good rank. Third preference is that of Chemistry. Mathematics and physics have calculation based questions and in chemistry subject the questions are content based. Apart from scoring good marks in JEE Main, the students should be in the top 20 percentile in board exams. Thus is also important to score good marks in languages also in the qualifying exam.
