Cricketer Sreesanth Arrested by Delhi Police on Spot Fixing Allegations
Mumbai: Cricketer Sreesanth was arrested on spot fixing charges in IPL 6. Indian cricketer Sreesanth who played in international cricket also was caught red handed. Along with Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan were also arrested by police. These are playing for Rajasthan Royals in IP 6. Along with cricketer three bookies were also arrested for spot fixing. All these were arrested in Mumbai and are being taken to Delhi. Police came to conclusion that these were involved in spot fixing based on telephone conversations.
Sreesanth was arrested from his friends place and the other two cricketers were arrested from their hotel rooms. They were arrested immediately after they returned back to their hotel from the match that was played against Mumbai Indians in Wankhede stadium. Police said the role of these players in fixing an IPL match was confirmed. A total of seven bookies from in Mumbai were also arrested. Three bookies were arrested from Delhi. The police are on look out for another two bookies in Delhi.
The Delhi police seems to have been tapping the phone calls of bookies and also the cricket players. Police found the evidence that proves Sreesanth and other two cricket player’s involvement in spot fixing following which these were arrested. Two other cricketers are also under the scanner, it is informed. Delhi Commissioner of Police said that more arrests may take place but did not clarified whether the arrests will be of administrators, players or bookies. The players and the bookies were arrested under allegations of cheating and criminal conspiracy, section 420 and 120 B respectively.
Rajasthan Royals team management said that they are taken in by surprise and they said that they will cooperate with the authorities in the investigation. They said they do not know the facts and so cannot confirm anything at this point.
Sreesanth belongs to Kerala and played 53 ODIs and 27 tests. Since the beginning of his career he is involved in one or other controversy. He is always in news for wrong reasons.
