IPL6: Dhoni Guide’s his Team to Victory with his 67*
Chennai: Sunrisers bowlers could not save a match that seemed easy to win. Chennai captain Dhoni’s strategic innings helped his team win the match. The only relief for Sunrisers is Sikhar Dhawan is back.
Sunrisers won the toss and decided to bat first. Sikhar Dhawan who came back into the team remained not out at the end of their inning with 63 runs in 45 balls. His score included 10 runs. Ashish Reddy also helped Sunrisers get a respectable score. He scored 36 runs in 16 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes. Dhawan and Ashish added 43 runs in 16 balls to the seventh wicket. In the last three overs the player scored 59 runs. Dhawan was retired hurt when his individual score was 44 runs. He came back at the end of the match.
Chennai Super Kings scored 160 runs in 19.4 overs by losing 5 wickets to win the match. Hussey once again gave a good start by scoring 45 runs in 26 balls. All the other batsmen failed to perform except Dhoni. Dhoni scored 67 runs in 37 balls with 4 sixers and guided his team to victory. Dhoni gave a catch when his individual score was zero to Mishra which was dropped by him. The drop cost a defeat for the Sunrisers team.
In the last over of the Chennai innings, the team needed 15 runs. Ashish Reddy was given bowling. Dhoni scored one sixer and two fours in the over. Amit Mishra claimed three wickets for Sunrisers team. Leg spinner Karan Sharma gave only 8 runs in 4 overs to increase pressure on Chennai team.
David Dhawan’s return to the team proved to be strength for Sunrisers team. The dashing opener played a crucial innings. In the power play Sunrisers score was 37/3. Dhawan continued to play in his style while wickets continue to fall on the other end.
Sunrisers could get a respectable score due to Sikhar Dhawan and Ashish Reddy. Ashish scored 36 runs in 16 balls. He hit a sixer in the fourth ball he faced. He scored 16 runs in an over.
