India Vs Australia 3rd Test Match at Mohali: Mohali Pitch to Help Spinners
Mohali: India and Aussies test series was described as Spin vs. Pace war before the commencement of the series. But Australia’s pace bowling did not give them good results and Team India’s spin bowling gave good results than expected. As a result, Team India is leading the series with 2-0. Wicket is also one of the main reasons for the success of Team India apart from the talent of the players.
It is informed that team India captain Dhoni wanted a wicket that will turn from day one. BCCI supported the proposal of Dhoni and ordered the curators of Chennai and Hyderabad to ready pitch accordingly. Now everybody is looking at Mohali pitch as this is one of the Indian pitches which help pacers. Though India has a good record on this pitch, pacers played a key role in winning the matches here.
At present there are not many good pacers in Indian team. Young pacer Bhuvneswar though performed well in Hyderabad, Ishant failed to deliver goods. In this backdrop, Team India is largely dependent on spinner. According to sources, curator at Mohali made spin wicket at Mohali also. Mohali curator Daljith Singh said that the pitch will help spinners.
Aussies coach Mickey Arthur checked the Mohali pitch and said he has not seen such a pitch earlier. He said he has seen the wicket earlier and it helped pacers. But this time the pitch may not be helpful for the pacers. But it may not turn like the wickets at Chennai and Hyderabad, he said. Arthur also commented that the pitch is helpful for host team.
Australia team faced humiliating defeat at the hands of Team India in the first two test matches in the four test match series. Cricket Australia suspended four key players before the third match that is going to begin on 14th March, 2013. Watson, Johnson, Pattinson and Khwaja are suspended from the team. This is a blow to the Australia Team.
Mohali is one of the lucky venues for Team India. Ten tests were played here in which Team India won four tests and five matches ended in draws. India lost one test match. India played two tests with Australia in Mohali and won the two test matches. In 2008, Team India won the test against Australia by 320 runs and in 2010 won by a wicket. Dhoni was the captain for both the matches.
