New Delhi: People who have applied for Aadhar cards but have not received the cards need not wait for them to arrive by post now.   They can directly download the Aadhar card from the website.  Nearly five lakh Aadhar cards are lying with the postal department and the department is finding it difficult to deliver the cards to the applicants.

All the government welfare schemes now are linked to Aadhar cards.  Aadhar card is now necessary to get subsidy on domestic gas cylinders and the last date for linking Aadhar card with LPG cylinder subsidy is 15th March, 2013.  Thus people who have not received the Aadhar cards are now worried.  Keeping the situations in view, UIDAI officials can easily download from the official website.  The cards thus downloaded can be used for various purposes, informed Aadhar deputy general Padmaja.

To download Aadhar card from the website, applicants have to visit   They have to provide the details of 14 digits enrolment number, enrolment time, name of the applicant and PIN code number.  After these details are provided, a password will be sent to the mobile number that is mentioned in the application.  If the mobile number that was provided at the time of registration is changed, the applicants will not be able to receive the password.

The password received by the applicant should be entered in the website to get a PDF file that contains the details of the Aadhar card.  This should downloaded and taken printout.  This can be used as Aadhar card.  It is also possible to update the data that was provided while registering for Aadhar card.  This can also be done online. Click on the ‘Update your Aadhar Data’ link that appears on the right side of Aadhar site.  A password will be sent to the mobile phone.  The password should be entered in the site to view al the details that can be updated.

To update the details such as date of birth and address, supporting documents have to be uploaded online and an acknowledgement will be received by the applicant.  New Aadhar card will be sent by post to the applicant.
