Ubuntu Touch Preview OS Version on Nexus 4: Ubuntu Releases Preview Version of its Latest OS

New York: Canonical has just recently released Ubuntu Touch Preview. The present release is of Touch Preview version 12.10 while the final version will be 13.10. This final version is expected to be released in October 2013. Hence the present release is an early build and hence there are lot of things missing from this version, because of which it is not working as per expectations. Ubuntu installer tools as well as instructions are all released as Ubuntu terminal commands and hence they don’t have support for Mac or Windows.

Lack of support of Ubuntu termainal commands for Windows or Mac might not please the prospective customers. Installation of Ubuntu Touch preview is very much easy. First and foremost thing that we can notice after installing and booting this Ubuntu is that, there are many number of pre populated contacts and notifications. But these notifications on emails, Faceobok, Skype and Twitter are fake. It is because of the reason that core apps are in the process of development by the community and hence only web apps are made available in the preview image. Ubuntu Touch Preview can’t give full effect of personalization because of the reason that users are now not allowed to pull their contacts or mail or SNS data in to the system. Even the Welcome screen can’t be personalized. The notifications will continue to say the same thing on this version.

But, Ubuntu is running somewhat better on Nexus 4 when compared to any other previous devices. It might be because of the reason that Nexus 4 is much powerful device when compared to Nexus 7, and it might also be because of the reason that Canonical has improved the version much better. This OS version is smooth since transitions are crisper. Although there are few lags now and then, this is much better than this version of Ubuntu when installed on Nexus 7 mobile.
