Oil Companies Agree to Extend Deadline for Linking LPG Cylinder Subsidy to Aadhar?
Hyderabad: According to reliable sources, ministry of Petroleum has taken a decision to extend the deadline for linking subsidy domestic gas cylinder supply to Aadhar and the implementation of direct cash transfer scheme for LPG cylinders. A higher official informed two days ago that as per the discussions they had with the authorities of ministry of petroleum, central government agreed to the request of extending deadline. Extension of deadline is confirmed, but the orders are awaited in written form, he informed. Government also decided to offer the facility of linking gas connection to Aadhar procedure in online method.
Oil companies issued notifications in media stating the 15th February, 2013 is the last date for linking subsidy domestic LPG gas cylinder to Aadhar and implantation of direct cash transfer scheme for depositing subsidy amount. The companies made it clear that consumer should submit their Aadhar card number and band account details to the gas dealers to get subsidy on cylinders. Only those who have done this while get their subsidy amount deposited in their band account. Who failed to do so will have to pay Rs. 1,031 for each cylinder.
With this announcement, all those who have no Aadhar card queued at the Aadhar registration centers. People were facing many problems as there were no sufficient registration applications and no sufficient staff at the centers. With the limited number of registration centers, there was heavy rush at the centers.
Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy wrote a letter to the government requesting to extend the deadline for linking subsidy gas cylinders to Aadhar cards. He ordered the authorities to set up new centers to make it convenient for the people to register for Aadhar cards. 300 new centers will be set up for this purpose.
Meanwhile Aadhar is going to be mandatory for obtaining driving licenses and also for vehicle registrations. Passports will also be linked to Aadhar. Foreign affairs ministry decided to link issue of passport to Aadhar. While buying a new vehicle, customers were asked to submit residence proof, ration card or voter ID card. Aadhar will replace all these in future. Arrangements are being made to implement the process of linking Aadhar to driving licenses and vehicle registrations in Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Krishna, Visakhapatnam and Warangal districts.
