Ford Eco Sport SUV spied in Mumbai Dealership – 7 Seat Version named ‘Grand Eco Sport’ likely to be unveiled
Mumbai: Ford’s prestigious upcoming arrival Eco Sport has been spotted in the Mumbai and it was bearing a number plate of Maharashtra registration. A team from ‘Team-BHP’ has managed to snap a few pictures of the vehicle which have displayed the high quality design of the SUV.
The model has been unveiled by Ford recently in the Auto Expo 2012 and it is likely to reach stores by the end of this March. Eco Sport is also a city friendly version like Ford Fiesta, another recent launch from the company in the Indian market.
As per the information, ARAI has approved the production of both petrol version as well as diesel versions of the Eco Sport in India. The petrol version will be equipped with a 1.0 liter eco boost engine that is capable of producing 123 bhp of power. The diesel variant will be equipped with a 1.5 liter TDCi Dura Torq engine which is capable of producing 90 bhp of power and 240 Nm torque at the peak.
There is a bit confusion about the gear box that is going to be accompanying the engines in Eco Sport but most probably the vehicle will consist either of a 5 speed manual transmission or a 6 speed automatic transmission gear box. Ford is expected to include the standard safety measures such as ABS, ESP and traction control in all the variants of the Eco Sport along with four air bags.
Eco Sport will come up with exclusive features such as cooled glove box and keyless entry based on the version but all versions are expected to come up with push button start. Ford is likely to include Hill Launch Assist feature in Eco Sport which will enhance the experience of driving a sports utility vehicle.
Ford can tackle head on with Eco Sport against Renault’s Duster and Premiere Rio in the Indian market. The price of the brand new Ford Eco Sport SUV is expected to be in the range of Rs. 7 lakhs to Rs. 11 lakhs.
