New Delhi:  R C Mishra, EPF Central PF Commissioner launched e-passbook service in New Delhi on 30th December, 2012. There are more than five crore provident fund account holder in India and they can now check their PF account online. They can also download e-passbook every month through the new services launched. The details of the new service can be obtained from the website www.epfindia.gov.in.

Provident Fund account holders can register their names in the website based on PAN, Aadhar, Passport, Ration card, Voter ID or Driving license. They can open their account by keeping their mobile number as the password. Only one registration is allowed with one mobile number. Registered PF account holders can download passbook of only one account, according to EPF officials.

The details of Provident fund accounts that are not in operation since 36 months will not be available in the PF website. But account holders can make a requested for e-passbook service. The e-passbook can be downloaded by entering the account number. If the passbook is available, it will be displayed on the screen. All the transaction details of the provident fund account will be available in the e-passbook.

Provident fund members who are not in service and whose provident fund accounts are yet to be settles also can obtain the e-passbook by making special requests.

Employer’s Provident Department of India maintains the provident fund member’s data. For obtaining more details about the services, one can visit the official website of Provident fund. The facility of registering online is available for only those members whose electronic challan cum return is uploaded by the employer.

In the Provident Fund website there is an option ‘Know your EPF Balance’. Registered members can click this to check their provident fund balance. PF claim status can also be checked online by entering the PF number.

With the launch of e-passbook services the members will now be able to get complete details of their accounts through the official website by registering their names.  They can also download the e-passbooks or check the balance in their account online.
