New Delhi: Having an Aadhar card is going to be mandatory for receiving pension, applying for scholarship, apply for gas connection, submitting gas cylinder or passport application etc. Government of India is planning to make Aadhar card compulsory for receiving benefits of all government welfare schemes also.

Citizens of India will now have to submit their copy of Aadhar card even to obtain a cell phone connection. Thus it is necessary for all the people to obtain Aadhar cards, according to officials. Central government of India is planning to integrate all the government welfare schemes and subsidies to Aadhar cards. National Institute of Public Finance and Policy analyzed the benefits of Aadhar card. This report was released by the planning commission. NIPFP states in its report that public distribution system, domestic gas, education, India Awas Yojna, Integrated Child Development Center, various welfare schemes and subsidies should be integrated with Aadhar card.

Recently a meeting of district collectors was held in Delhi on implementation of Aadhar. The meeting suggested that the welfare schemes and subsidies should be integrated with Aadhar cards by 2018-19 to prevent leakages in subsidies.

Aadhar card integration to various schemes is being implemented in Andhra Pradesh in 51 districts along with Andhra Pradesh.  Authorities are planning to make Aadhar card compulsory for students to apply for scholarships. Aadhar card numbers of the students will be taken by the college principals and the number will be mentioned in the applications of the students applying for scholarships. Hyderabad, Chittoor, Srikakulam, Adilabad, East Godavari, Anantapur and Ranga Reddy are the districts in which Aadhar card is made mandatory for obtaining benefits from government schemes. Hyderabad already has 18 Aadhar card centers and with Aadhar being made mandatory to apply for scholarships, another twenty centers will be set up, according to authorities.

Unique Identification Authority of India, Hyderabad regional office Deputy Director MVS Rami Reddy made some suggestions to people on the procedure of obtaining Aadhar cards. People can register their details in the nearby enrolment centers. The signed acknowledgement slip that will be given by the enrolment operator should be kept safe. This enrolment ID number is important for knowing the status of the Aadhar car d application.

Integrating Aadhar card to various government schemes will save nearly Rs. 1083 crores for the central government by 2013-14. The Savings will increase to Rs. 2206 crores by 2014-15, Rs. 4502 crores by 2015-16, Rs. 9192 crores by 2016-17, Rs. 18,778 crores by 2017-18, Rs. 23989 by 2018-19 and Rs. 24,532 crores by 2019-20., as per the report of NIPFP.
