Prasar Bharti to Fill 1,150 Vacancies in Doordarshan and Aakashvani
New Delhi: Prasar Bharti has announced that 1150 vacancies will be filled in Aakashvani and Doordarshan to improve their functioning. Prasar Bharati has said in a statement that the government has approved to fill 1,150 posts in programming as well as in technical departments of All India Radio and Doordarshan.
The 1,150 vacancies in Doordarshan and All India Radio that are approved by the government are part of essential category jobs. Group of minister headed by finance minister Chidambaram gave approval for the filling of these jobs in the year 2011.
The vacancies in Doordarshan and All India Radio will be filled through Staff Selection Commission and the remaining through Prasar Bharati Recruitment Board. Officials have informed that the procedure of recruitment will be completed by the middle of 2013.
Prasar Bharati is taking up recruitment procedure for vacancies in Doordarshan and All India Radio after 15 years. This move is meant to improve the function of these and provide good quality content for the viewers. There is now a tough competition among television channels and it is necessary to attract audience to improve good TRP ratings. Prasar Bharati has thanked Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni for getting the approval.
There are various vacancies such as Engineering Assistants, Transmission Executive, Assistant Station Directors, Technicians, Administrative Staff and Production Assistant in the 1,150 jobs that are being filled by Prasar Bharati. The Prasar Bharati officials have informed that these are the posts that that are of maximum importance but many stations are without these staff which is affecting the functioning of the stations.
Of the 3,452 posts that belong to essential category posts, that were approved by GoM in 2011. 1,150 are now being filled by Prasar Bharati through Staff Selection Commission and Prasar Bharati Recruitment Board.
