Oil Companies to Allow Transfer of LPG Gas Connections Hyderabad: Oil marketing companies have agreed to allow transfer of LPG gas connections. With this, people who are using the LPG gas connections that are in the name of others can transfer the connections in their name. Oil marketing companies have given this flexibility to the consumers as there are more than ten lakh such connections. Know your customer program is being implemented in oil marketing companies to verify connections of customers who have dual connections. With the oil marketing companies agreeing for the transfer of connections, it will be possible to transfer the connections that are in the name of family members without the need to pay any additional security deposit by approaching the dealer. If the person who is having the gas connection expires, legal hair certificate had to be submitted to transfer the connection on the name of family members. But now it will be sufficient to submit a personal letter stating that he is the heir. People who are using the LPG gas connections which are in the name of people other than the family members can pay additional security deposit and transfer the connection in their name. Additional security deposit is the difference between the deposits that was already paid at the time of taking connection and the security deposit that is presently being taken. For this the person who is having the LPG gas connection in his name need to give no objection certificate. Or an affidavit from notary has to be submitted. After introducing cap on subsidy domestic LPG gas cylinders, government of India has stated it illegal to have multiple connections in the same name and in the same address. Oil companies have been ordered to cancel all such connections. In this process, all the oil companies such as BPCL, HPCL and others are identifying the customers who have multiple connections either in their name or in the same address. They are advising the customers to surrender the extra connection before 31st October, 2012.
