Hyderabad: The preliminary exam conducted related to 28th November, 2011 Group-1 notification had many mistakes and thus candidates who had appeared for the Group-1 preliminary exam have approached the tribunal in June, 2012.

Few other mistakes were identified in the preliminary exam that was conducted related to 28th November, 2011 Group-1 notification and few other candidates approached the tribunal in September, 2012. Tribunal has conducted enquiry on the two petitions on 18th October, 2012. Justice Madan Mohan Reddy of State Administrative Tribunal has postponed the case to 5th November, 2012 and ordered not to release the Main results till that date. He also expressed his anger on APPSC for not responding though the last date for filing the counter has ended a week back. APPSC advocate has said to the court that as Group-1 Mains exams were conducted at the end of September, 2012, they could not file counter for the cases that filed against Preliminary exams. They requested the court to give sometime for filing the counter.

Advocate Jonnalagadda Sudhir argued in the tribunal on behalf of the candidates who filed the petition. He explained to the court that even a difference of one mark causes thousands of candidates to lose eligibility. They also said that APPSC is frequently making mistakes in the key and the candidates are losing severely. Even in the preliminary key that was released there were many mistakes. APPSC has agreed that there are 8 mistakes in the key.

Given below are the questions in the preliminary exam that was conducted related to 28th November, 2011 Group-1 notification.

  • One of the questions asked in the exam was ‘Tirumala hills are part of which hill?’. The correct answer is Seshachalam hills but according to the key released by APPSC, the answer is Pala Kondalu.
  • Another question is ‘How many people died due to natural calamities between 1980 and 2010?’ The answer given in the APPSC key was 1,23,039 while the correct answer is 1,43,039.
