Celkon Mobile Releases CelTab CT2 with 1 Ghz CPU and 7 Inches Screen

 

Celkon Mobiles, a Hyderabad organization which is the leader in national brand mobile phones field is introducing CellTab (CT 2) in the national market. This is a tablet PC which comes along with a SIM card.  Y.Guru, Managing Director of that organization says, this tab is going to be sold at a price of Rs. 7,499 only with a view to make it affordable for general customers.  He also told that the tablet CT-1 which was introduced into the state market few months ago has grabbed huge response from the users. With this background, in order to use it as a mobile communication device also, this CT-2 is being brought into the market with high standard technology.

 

He said that 50 thousand orders for CT-1 and CT-2 tablets are already made available.  Mr. Guru has addressed the press along with Mr. R.Murali, executive director. This tab is introduced with a 7” screen, 512 Mb RAM, Ice Cream Sandwich Operating System and is also having the features like 1 GHz Processor, 3G Optional Dongle, 4GB memory (expandable up to 32 GB).   He said that they are the first company introducing a national brand CellTab with such features into the market.  He also told that in future, they are going to introduce a smart phone with price below Rs. 4,000/-.

 

Mr. Guru says that Celkon which is widely spreading since three years right from the inception is going to be expanded this year to the states of Rajasthan, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, and Odissa. Last year the company has targeted Maharashtra, UP markets also along with the southern states.  As a part of the business expansion, he told that they establish service centers in advance in the markets they are going to enter. Presently there are 425 nationwide service centers.

 

Mr. Guru stated that the turnover was Rs. 326 crores in the financial year ended last year march and this year they are going to achieve a turnover of Rs. 1,000 crores.  He said they have come to this calculation based on the sales in the first five months and the orders in hand presently. In the total sales, the share of mobile phones will be 80 percent and smart phones, tabs will account for a share of 20 percent. He said presently every month five lakhs mobile phones are being sold and it is targeted to 10 lakhs per month in the next year.
