Dasarathi Teugu Poet-Dasarathi was Called Kala Prapurna

Dasarathi was born in 1925 on July 22 in Warangal district in a village called Chinna Gudur near Mahabubabad. He took his degree from Osmania University. He studied Telugu literature very vastly. He took part in Farmer revolution as a communist party member in the ruling of Nizam. He criticized the Nizam ruling with his poetry. “Narapatulakella ghora danavudu veedu”(He is the cruel demon among all the kings of the world) with such writings he critisized Nizam. His revolutionary song “Agnidhara” is very famous. Some of his works are “Rudraveena”, “timiram to samara”,”Amrutabhishekam”,”Mahabodhi”,”Mahanfrodayam”,”Kavita pushpakam”.

Dasarathi formed Telangana writers association and led a literature revolution. He used all forms of literature like poetry, song, prose, for his works. He has expertise not only in Telugu but also in Urdu and Parsi languages. He worked as producer in Akashavani. He worked as lyricist for many Telugu movies and also wrote dialogues for the movies. He also worked as “Asthana kavi” for Andhra Pradesh. Sri Venkateshwara University felicitated him with doctorate degree and gave him a title “Kala Prapurna”. Agra University also gave him doctorate degree. He was given various other awards. He has his own mark in Telugu literature. He died in 1987. But he is still in the hearts of people with his writings like “Na Telangan koti ratnala Veena”
